How to Use — Spill Response Steps
- Step 1 — Stop the Source: If safe to do so, stop the flow of oil at the source (close valve, upright container, shut off equipment).
- Step 2 — Don PPE: Put on the nitrile gloves and safety goggles from the kit before handling any absorbents.
- Step 3 — Deploy Sock: Place the absorbent sock around the perimeter of the spill to contain and prevent spreading.
- Step 4 — Apply Pads: Lay absorbent pads over the spill area. Allow them to saturate fully before adding more pads.
- Step 5 — Collect & Bag: Once saturated, carefully fold and place used pads and socks into the disposable bags. Seal with provided ties.
- Step 6 — Dispose Properly: Dispose of bags as per local hazardous waste regulations. Report the spill per site procedures and restock the kit immediately.
