How to Use — Spill Response Steps
- Step 1 — Assess & Secure: Identify the nature and scale of the spill. Don the included nitrile gloves and safety goggles. Warn other personnel and isolate the affected area to prevent slip hazards and wider contamination.
- Step 2 — Stop the Source: If it can be done safely, stop or reduce the flow at the source before beginning cleanup — turning off a valve, closing a container, or uprighting a tipped vessel.
- Step 3 — Contain with Absorbent Socks: Lay the 3 absorbent socks around the perimeter of the spill to create a containment barrier and prevent the liquid from reaching drains, equipment, or other sensitive areas.
- Step 4 — Apply Absorbent Pads: Place absorbent pads directly onto the spill, working from the outer edges toward the centre. Allow each pad to saturate fully before adding additional pads.
- Step 5 — Collect & Bag Waste: Carefully pick up all used absorbents and place them into the provided disposable bags. Seal securely with the included ties and label the bags if required by site policy.
- Step 6 — Dispose & Restock: Dispose of bagged waste in compliance with local regulations for the specific fluid absorbed. Restock the kit with fresh materials immediately after use.
Storage & Maintenance
